Wesley Employment Services helps " Eligible School Leavers" or young people who have required additional educational support to take important steps towards obtaining employment, working with them one-on-one to develop their own Employment Pathway Plan and supporting them every step of the way.

 

• Identifying current skill levels, training needs, job interests and personal goals

• Finding suitable training programs and assistance with funding

• Selecting appropriate job choices

• Assistance with relevant work experience

• Developing your interview skills

• Job search assistance including resumes and job applications

• Application assistance for apprenticeships and traineeships

• Advocating and reverse marketing job seekers to employers

• Access to relevant government funding and wage subsidies

• Funding for work related items such as training, uniforms and appropriate work attire for interviews etc

• Access to workplace modifications

• Tailored ongoing support once you start work.

 

Eligible School Leaver Definition:

 To be eligible to commence in DES as an Eligible School Leaver, the job seeker must be:

• in the last 6 months of full time secondary school and considering post-school options/employment opportunities, or

• a full-time student who is intending to work outside of school hours

at award-based wages, or

• first registering with a DES provider within the 12 months of leaving

full time secondary school, or

• first registering with a DES provider directly from participating

in a recognised State or Commonwealth funded transition to work program.

 

And be:

 • of legal working age,

 • assessed by the provider as having capacity to work for a minimum of 8 hours a week with the assistance of a DES, not currently employed for 8 hours or more per week (including working in an Australian School-Based Apprenticeship), and

 • able to provide suitable evidence from their educational authority recognising the student’s need for educational support due to the nature of their disability. (Includes learning difficulties, ongoing medical conditions, mental health issues, injuries or disabilities).

 

Note: Job Seekers who are participating in Australian School-Based Apprenticeships and are working 8 or more hours per week may be eligible for DES under Job in Jeopardy arrangements.
