Supa IGA Footscray

IGA are working with Wesley Employment Services and BEST CDG to create paid

transitional employment opportunities within Supa IGA Footscray for

Wesley Job Seekers.

This partnership includes a transitional employment project for periods of 13- 26 weeks.

Job seekers will be part of a trolley collection team in the Footscray area with

the intention of a percentage moving into the store with ongoing employment with IGA

on completion. All participants will obtain valuable work skills and training that

will prepare them for ongoing future employment.

IGA supermarkets are well known for their community work and this project will

help them take this to a new level. They will be building a diverse workforce from

local job seekers that will strengthen the Footscray community and make a significant

 impact to the area’s social inclusion.

All participants will complete the blended learning training that has been developed

by BEST CDG and delivered by Wesley Employment Services in conjunction with

IGA’s Human Resources team. The training blends IGA’s induction training, with BEST CDG’s

 UK model that has been running successfully with theUK retailers Tesco and Halfords

 The tailored pre-employment and on the job training will meet IGA’s needs as well as

developing the participants understanding and requirements of the job.

Wesley’s long term experience of delivering trolley services for Footscray retailers

will ensure a well delivered project.

UCAN Café

UCAN Café is a brand new and unique community café in the

Altona North Community Library building,

which provides employment opportunities for people with a disability based on their

passion,choice and achievements.

UCAN Café is supported by Yooralla and has been steered by a committee

of interested parties to ensure best practice.
